Who is Arthrosamid® considered for?
Arthrosamid is a single hydrogel injection for knee osteoarthritis. Clinical studies and expert consensus describe the people most likely to benefit using three main measures. These are general criteria, not a personal decision, whether Arthrosamid is right for you is confirmed by a clinician at your assessment.
- A meaningful level of painIn the main studies (including the Keele University trial), people had significant knee pain, generally more than 40 out of 100 on a pain scale (the Visual Analogue Scale, or VAS).
- Mild-to-moderate arthritis on X-rayBest suited to Kellgren–Lawrence grade 2 to 3 changes. It is generally not recommended for severe, “bone-on-bone” arthritis (grade 4).
- Persistent symptoms despite basic careOngoing pain, aching or stiffness on most days of the past month, despite measures such as physiotherapy, oral pain relief or previous short-acting injections.
Available at both clinics, by enquiry. Arthrosamid is offered at our Canary Wharf and Dulwich clinics and is arranged by contacting us first. Send an enquiry →
About this self-assessment
The KOOS-JR questionnaire and the information on this page are provided for general education and to help you prepare for your care. They do not diagnose any condition, do not measure how severe your arthritis is, and do not tell you which treatment you should have.
This page is not a substitute for professional assessment and is not intended to be a medical device. Any decision about treatment is made with a qualified clinician at an in-person assessment.
If your knee locks or gives way, is hot and swollen, or you feel generally unwell, seek medical advice. In an emergency call 999.
